Four students of the Asante Mampong Midwifery and Health Assistants Training School have been hospitalized following an armed robbery attack at their hostel.
The robbers stormed the female dormitory of the school at dawn, Thursday, and subjected the students to physical abuse and made away with their moneys, lap-tops and mobile phones.
Police are however unable to confirm reports suggesting the robbers raped their victims.
Meanwhile, the police have deployed more personnel to beef up security at the school.
The incident comes barely a week after a middle-aged man was lynched for illegally entering a female dormitory at Amaniampong Senior High School, also at Mampong.
Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Solomon Ntim, told Nhyira FM’s Naa Amerley Nortey the matter is under investigation.
“The robbers physically assaulted them. Four of them have been admitted at the hospital but I am advising authorities to hire more security personnel into the school so that these incidents are reduced,” he said.
Municipal Chief Executive, Daniel Appau–Ohyeamang has also met with school authorities over the incident to find ways to ameliorate their plight.
