The Black Stars of Ghana cemented their quarter final berth following a gritty one all game against a plucky Guinean side who sadly are out of the competition. It was not a convincing performance from a side heavily tipped to win the tournament but efficient enough to book three successive quarter finals in the AFCON tournament. The Guineans needed a desperate win against the Black Stars and favorable results in the Botswana-Mali encounter to book qualification into the quarter finals of the AFCON competition. But it was not to be.Mali piped the Zebras of Botswana 2-1 dashing the hopes of the National Elephants of Guinea who held on with ten men for most part of the second half against the Black Stars.A teasing loop deep in the first half from Camara was a glamorous equalizer to another stupendous opener from Agyemang Badu early in the half. The second half saw a subdued Ghana side and not even a red card for the Guineans was enough to turn the game in favour of the Stars. The Stars hanged on for a crucial point that would eventually take Ghana to top of the group and set up quarter-final game against Tunisia.
