A Ghanaian sports analyst, Thomas Moreaux is blaming "lack of inspirational leadership" for the failure of the Black Stars to reach the finals of the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Gabon - Equatorial Guinea.
In a post semi-final match analysis on Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, Thomas Moreaux, said teams that have excelled in the tournament have leaders who, through their inspiration, have kept their teams going during difficult moments.
The Black Stars last night lost by a goal to nil to the “Chipolopolo” boys of Zambia and thereby lost the opportunity to play in the finals.
Moreaux cited Didier Drogba, captain of the Elephants of La Cote d’Ivoire and Christopher Katongo, captain of the Chipolopolo boys of Zambia whose inspiration as leaders has helped their respective teams to reach the finals.
The outspoken analyst alleged that Coach Goran Stevancovic does not respect the Black Stars management team and this is the reason why Kevin Prince Boateng refused to play for the Black stars.
He claimed the Coach has a player management company “and if you are not signed on to his company you will never be selected among the 23-man squad”.
‘The Coach has an agency and if you are not part of the agency, you will never get the chance to play in the Black stars’ he alleged.
He added some media practitioners also made their selection which the Coach included in the 23 man squad.
Thomas Moreaux on Monday predicted that La Cote d’Ivoire will win this year’s AFCON cup which is currently co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
He said people are afraid to tell the truth because they are being hypocritical. He mentioned a player like Emmanuel Baffoe who is currently top goal scorer in the Ghana premier league but was left out from the team.
Kofi Appiah, who is also a sports analyst on the other hand, maintained that the coach is not mandated to select local players to the Black stars.
He argued that the only problem in the Black stars team is that Asamoah Gyan was not fit to play in the tournament.
‘Asamoah Gyan was the most useless player in the tournament’ Kofi Appiah stressed.
He asserted that Ghana’s goalie, Adams Kwarasay should have been dropped because he is inexperienced in the African soccer terrain.
