At least four people have died after their vehicle rammed into a container that had fallen off a truck at Teacher-Mante on the Suhum-Nsawam road.
The truck was reportedly heading to Accra about 4 a.m. Sunday when it tipped over and the container loaded with milled wood boards fell.
It spilt the cargo on the road.
An eyewitness told Joy News the driver abandoned the container after the incident.
But oblivious to the danger ahead, the driver of the Toyota Hiace crashed into the container killing four passengers on the spot, the eyewitness said.
District Superintendent of Police (DSP), Charles Ahiamale has told Joy News the police will institute an investigation into the matter to establish the cause of the accident.
"We are yet to fully uncover what actually was the cause," he said, adding all the accident victims were occupants of the mini-van.
