Ministry of Youth and Sports will not pay the severance package for Goran Stevanovic if the Ghana FA decides to sack him.
According to the state-owned Graphic Sports, the ministry will not make any financial commitment should the GFA decide to send the Serbian packing.
Stevanovic, who has one-year left on his contract, will be paid 135,000 Euros if the GFA terminates his contract as widely speculated.
“The Ministry is happy that it has been kept abreast with the issues on the coach and will support the GFA,” the Daily Graphic quoted an undisclosed source close to the Ministry.
“However, with so much money already spent on the Stars and more to be spent with the impending CAN 2013 and the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, the Ministry will not want to be saddled with further financial burden.”
This development means the Ghana FA must source for funds elsewhere to pay the damage if they want the former Partizan Belgrade boss sacked.
The Ministry pays part of Stevanovic’s US$ 45,000 salary.
A decision on his future will be announced next week after a final Executive Committee meeting with the coach.
