Ex-Ghana captain Abedi Pele and former France star Marcel Desailly are among the five early frontrunners to take-over as Ghana coach if Goran Stevanovic is sacked.FC Cologne assistant boss and former Ghana striker Ibrahim Tanko has also been tipped to replace the Serbian as the Black Stars trainer.Former Brazil coach Dunga has expressed interest in taking the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup while U20 World Cup winning coach Sellas Tetteh is also keen. This comes after widespread reports on Friday that Stevanovic will be shown the door following Thursday’s executive committee meeting of the Ghana Football Association. The coach has come under intense pressure since his side failed to win the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year. While some reports have made Desailly, a Ghana-born ex-defender, the firm favourite to succeed the Serbian, some names have emerged following MTNFootball.com investigations.Desailly’s heroics with the France national team makes him the man with the clout to take firm control of the side despite lacking in coaching experience.Abedi Pele also stands tall in the list of likely candidates for the Black Stars post having achieved huge success in his playing and coaching career. The three-time African Player of the Year led his second tier club Nania FC to win the Ghana FA Cup at the first time of asking when they beat giants Kotoko in the final last year.Dunga coached Brazil at the 2010 World Cup with considerable success but his huge financial demands could scupper his dreams of coaching the West Africans.Tanko’s experience of coaching at the highest level of club football in the world by being an assistant with Bundesliga side Cologne makes him another tough candidate. With all the coaching badges, training at the highest level and knowledge of the local scene he could also be considered if he is interested.Tetteh was in charge when Ghana won the U20 World Cup and with several of the players from the 2009 squad in the Black Stars team he is seen by many as the right man for the post. The GFA will reveal next week whether Stevanovic will stay but already replacements are being discussed in the media.Who do you want to coach the Black Stars – Abedi Pele or Marcel Desailly?
