A former coach of Ghana’s Asante Kotoko, Hans Dieter Schmidt, has said he is bent on taking the €99,000 compensation ruled in his favour by the Court of Arbitration for Sports because the club did not treat him fairly.
The world’s football governing body, Fifa, has directed that the Porcupine Warriors pay the coach within 30 days or risk being relegated to the lower division.
“This is not an issue of sympathy for Kotoko even though I like them very much, but this is an issue with contract and legalities so after seven years this is justice I feel,” Schmidt told Storm FM.
“They [Kotoko] must know their responsibility and that is what they have to follow now. I have been in contact with [George] Amoako, Dr. KK Sarpong and Larsen but the issue is beyond me, it is now with the highest body - Court of Arbitration for Sports."
The German added, “As to how they raise the money it is totally not my issue but the issue of law. I am just waiting for the money because I think I was not treated fairly at all.''
Schmidt was sacked a year after he sent the Fabulous club to the final of the 2004 Caf Confederation Cup where they lost to rivals Hearts of Oak on home soil.
