League leaders Asante Kotoko are having to look over their shoulders already mainly because of two reasons with eight matches to end the GLO premier league season.
Kotoko were lucky to get a 1-1 draw against New Edubiase with an injury time equalizer by Baba Abdul Rahman after lead scorer Emmanuel Baffour’s first half strike appeared to have condemned the Porcupine Warriors to their third defeat of the season.
Hearts of Oak’s first win in six matches is a reprieve and takes some of the pressure away from new Coach CK Akunnor who can now prepare his team in serenity ahead of the Super Clash against Kotoko in two weeks time.
An early own goal was all the Phobians needed to beat Aduana Stars 1-0 at the Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa. The win also moved Hearts to 3rd place, 10 points behind Kotoko and a renewed confidence to win the league looking at the fixture list of their rivals which include crucial away trips to Berekum and Obuasi.
Tema Youth pulled six points away from relegation with a 3-0 thumping of the inconsistent Heart of Lions at the Tema Park.
Ten-man Liberty Professionals beat Mighty Jets 2-1 in a local derby at the Sly Tetteh Park in Dansoman. Liberty had Atta Kusi sent off in the 83rd minute as Mighty Jets attempted to capitalize on that but Liberty held on to win the game.
