Zambia’s national team will camp in South Africa from next month for intensive training ahead of their 2014 World Cup qualifier against Ghana in June.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says preparations for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers have already started with the monitoring of players.
The squad would regroup in May when some leagues go on break with coach Herve Renard expected to name his squad around that same time.
“Our preparations got underway months ago and we remain on top of all technical and administrative matters required for the successful staging of these games,” FAZ spokesperson Erick Mwanza said.
“It is our stated policy to adequately prepare our Chipolopolo very well for international assignments and the FIFA World Cup qualifiers are no exception.
“We have demonstrated this before and just recently, a very successful camp in Johannesburg resulted in winning our first-ever Nations Cup.
“As such, we would like to restate that Chipolopolo will set base for training in Johannesburg South Africa next month for intensive sessions which should put the African champions in good stead for the challenges of Sudan and Ghana,” he said.
Ghana are keen on a revenge after they were eliminated by the Chipolopolo in the semi-final of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
