The Ghana Football Association has cleared Optimum Media Prime (OMP) to telecast Sunday’s super clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi.
This agreement was reached after a meeting between the FA and officials of the club. OMP, the parent company of Metro TV, was told to stay away from all Kotoko matches until all disciplinary issues were resolved after some fans of Kotoko damaged broadcast equipment during a match between Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea in Kumasi last year.
According to the spokesperson for Asante Kotoko, Listowell Burkason, they received a letter from the GFA to permit OMP to cover the epic encounter although the disciplinary issues at stake has not being dealt with.
He said that the letter the GFA sent to the club had nothing to do with the allegation of Kotoko fans attacking OMP crew, a matter which is before the GFA Disciplinary Committee.
Lord Listowell, however said that they expect the Disciplinary Committee, after the match to come out with its verdict on the issue.
