South Africa is alleged to have fielded a male in their women's team in the Olympic Games qualifier against Ghana's Black Queens played in Johannesburg last month. The host, according to information pieced together by GNA Sports in Shanghai, featured a male for the entire 90 minutes of the game, which incidentally was won by the Ghanaians by a lone goal.Alhaji Adam Munkaila, Vice Chairman of the Queens Management Committee told GNA Sports in Shanghai that Ghana however withdrew an earlier protest after winning the game."We protested to the match commissioner immediately the game started but I decided to withdraw it after we won the game."A copy of the hand written protest the GNA Sports chanced upon highlighted the team's suspicion about the player's gender and requested that doctors of both teams conduct a test on him during the recess of the game. The Vice Chairman who doubles as the Northern Regional Chairman of the Football Association said he felt it was needless to carry on with the protest after Anita Amankwah gifted the team with the victory. He described the affected player as skilful but with male features."We noticed during the team's inspection that he was a male and his actions on the field confirmed so."Ghana was expected to pay 2000 dollars as protest fee.Ghana leads the table with six points from two games and has a date with the South Africans later in the year. The Queens who would also travel to Nigeria for their return game with the Super Falcons after beating the later 1-0 in Accra would require superior goals in case of a tie.Ghana could qualify for their first Olympic Games should they defeat the South African's in Accra and at least draw with the Falcons.Source: GNA
