On the 30th of May, 2012, I logged onto modernghana.com and stumbled on the freshly posted article: Joy FM named among top 50 brands in Ghana. I smiled. The title reminded me of a report I once red about Steve Jobb’s Apple Company being among the top ten business brands in the world. Great effort and achievement from Joy FM, I think. And she is the only radio station in that list. But this shouldn’t come us a surprise. Since its inception in a few years ago and since the good old days of Quiet Time on Joy FM (one of its then most listened to programs), Radio Joy has outgrown the mediocrity of youth and is now punching above weight and is in the acme of adulthood; blazing the trail and leading the pack in Ghanaian news reportage, analysis and entertainment—thumbs up to the team.Joy FM has a number of qualities, which makes her, without doubt, the current best in Ghanaian media reportage, news analysis, and entertainment.Top-notch journalistsJoy FM has them; journalists who’ll report news in an unbiased and professional tone and patrol politicians when they interview them.I particularly liked a lady journalist who, once when she was interviewing a fellow journalist-cum-politician, summarily stopped the interview when the latter started developing a rude and arrogant tone which is typical of 51% of our politicians).I particularly liked the Super Morning Show anchor Kojo Oppong-Nkurmah who once stopped a politician when he started praising how he, Kojo, was grilling an opposing politician. Such journalists deserve to be applauded since they aren’t interested in putting themselves in compromising situations.I particularly like other programs like the Drive Time hosted by Bola Ray and even the Sport programs, which are so good that they can cause a non-sports lover to start watching the Premiership just as the moon shining up in the sky would cause the cripple to hunger for a walk.Time will fail me to point out every good thing about Team Joy.By the way, they aren’t without weaknesses and errors. But, they are better than they rest. They currently lead the pack; and the nearest challenger is very far away.Team Joy, way to go!
