An Independent presidential candidate, Kofi Akpaloo says he will pay every child below eighteen years and unemployed youth a monthly allowance of 20 and 50 Ghana Cedis respectively as a measure to reduce the economic burden on the country. According to Akpaloo, the main aim of the monthly stipend is to give the unemployed youth a purchasing power and also to prevent them from engaging in social vices which he says will be detrimental to the country. Akpaloo hopes to pursue these policies if he wins the upcoming December general elections. As the elections approach, the political landscape would be saturated with lots of promises from political parties to win the mandate of the Ghanaian electorates. As the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) espouses its Better Ghana Agenda in its bid to retain power, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is promising a free Senior High School to outwit other political parties to enable them win the elections. But Kofi Akpaloo, an independent presidential candidate is optimistic of a landslide victory in the December polls. In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, an enthusiastic Akpaloo said he has the charisma of former President Jerry John Rawlings to gunner much support to propel him to the presidency in December. He indicated that, the IPP as a third force in the Ghanaian political landscape will give the NPP and NDC a run for their money. The chartered accountant reiterated that he is going to win the elections hands down without any fear or intimidation from the NDC or NPP. Mr. Akpaloo said both political parties have failed Ghanaians hence does not deserve an opportunity to be voted to power. He observed that an IPP government will work assiduously to deliver results for the future generation. On education, Kofi Akpaloo said he would make the Senior High School (SHS) the first tier exit point in education in Ghana by joining the Junior High School (JHS) to the SHS as composite colleges linked to primary schools and provide better remuneration for teachers. He added that given Ghana’s viable oil economy, all the policies would be implemented immediately the IPP assumes office. Kofi Akpaloo urged Ghanaians to reject both the NDC and NPP at the polls and vote for IPP for a change. Meanwhile, Mr Akpaloo, a Chartered Accountant contested is not new in the country’s body politic. Mr Akpaloo contested the Manhyia Parliamentary seat as an independent candidate in 2004 but lost to Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor.
