The immediate past Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, retired DCOP Akrofi Asiedu has been appointed Acting National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO.
He replaces George Isaac Amoo, who has been reassigned to a NADMO desk at the Interior Ministry.
A statement from the Information Minister, Oboshie Sai-Cofie simply says the change is expected to reinvigorate activities within NADMO, and also ensure greater efficiency.
Oboshie told Joy News' Matilda Asante that the reappointment was not a dismissal, and neither would Mr. Amo be reporting to the New NADMO Boss, DCOP Akrofi Asiedu.
Rather, Amo would be reporting directly to the Minister of the Interior, which ministry has a NADMO unit already in place.
(Listen to the attached audio as the Minister explains the change to Joy News' Matilda Asante.)
