Telecommunication giant, MTN in collaboration with Ark Lifestyle Foundation has organized free health screening and treatment for the people of Obo Kwahu and its surrounding communities in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.

The exercise, which formed part of the MTN’s mission of helping to bring quality healthcare to the doorsteps of people in Kwahu, was of immense benefit to many residents from the town and its surrounding areas.

The beneficiaries were screened for all forms of diseases including malaria, hypertension, and prostate as well as other chronic diseases, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDS) among others.

They also received free medical consultation and provision of drugs after diagnosis and were educated on various diseases.

Those whose cases were found to be serious were referred to the hospital for further checks and treatment.

Speaking to the media after the event, the Commercial Senior Manager for MTN South East Business District, Mr. David Gyimah Boadi said it is MTN’s wish to improve health care in deprived communities in the country and help improve their living standards to make life comfortable for them.

“MTN looks at business from a wider view and do not focus on our core areas only because MTN has a philosophy that without our customers, we do not have any business. We will, therefore, do anything to help our customers to live a good life in order to support us.”

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ark Lifestyle foundation, Mrs. Esthelyn Osei-Bonsu hinted of plans by his outfit to continuously invest in the health of the aged, adding that her foundation believes the aged needs much attention to live long and to properly contribute to nation building.

She appealed to other benevolent organizations, especially churches, to emulate the gesture by MTN, adding that the provision of healthcare is a shared responsibility by all in the society.

Not only did the elderly benefited from the health screening alone but they were served with food, drinks and giving free medication as well as some souvenirs from MTN.
