The Volta Regional Security Council has reviewed the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on Hohoe in the Volta Region.
It now starts from 8:00pm - 5:00am daily.
This was confirmed by the Volta Regional Minister Henry Ford Kamel in an interview with Joy News.
The curfew was imposed after violent clashes between indigenes and Muslim youths claimed three lives.
Several properties were destroyed and thousands displaced.
The violence was sparked by the exhumation of the body of an imam who was buried in Hohoe culminating in attack and destruction of the Palace of Torgbiga Gabusu by Muslim youths.
Indigenes of the area also attacked Muslim residents and burnt down shops and houses.
The Regional Security Council in consultation with the Interior Ministry imposed the dusk-to-dawn curfew in order to restore peace, law and order.
But the Regional Minister who is also the Chairman of the Regional Security Council said calm has returned with the Moslems returning from ‘exile.’
Henry Ford Kamel said the relaxation of the curfew is in the supreme interest of the area.
He however added that the security presence will still remain in the area whiles the council work towards creating lasting peace.
