The Convention People’s Party has rebuffed claims it is pursuing its selfish interest under the guise of desiring a merger of the two parties.PNC’s Presidential candidate, Hassan Ayariga has told Joy News he is no longer willing to surrender his ambitions for a merger because the CPP has unilaterally launched a manifesto for the December elections.This he says is a betrayal of an otherwise genuine political enterprise and has called on his party members interested in parliamentary seats to go ahead and pursue their ambitions.“I don’t think I want to stand and see the PNC being used, not under my leadership in the name of unity, no”, Mr. Ayariga declared.But CPP General Secretary, Ivor Greenstreet, said the party has not committed any wrong.“We have no intention of using the People’s National Convention”, Mr. Greenstreet emphasized.He however the PNC to allow the committees formed to work on the unity talks to continue with their work.
