Dozens of National Democratic Congress supporters have besieged the Kotoka International Airport to welcome President John Mills on his return from the United States.
The president left Ghana on June 16 for a routine medical check-up after rumours on social media network he had died.
He told journalists he is well and alive but was embarking on a routing medical check-up in the US on the advice of his doctors.
Government sources say the president was constantly in touch with his ministers whilst away in the US and is abreast with the happenings in the country.
He is expected to return 12:20 pm Monday, June 25, 2012, and already hundreds of supporters are at the airport to welcome him.
Joy News Anny Osabutey who is present at the airport reported the atmosphere is electric.
According to him, the supporters are clad in NDC paraphernalia, enjoying brass band music.
Others are singing and dancing in absolute excitement.
One of them told Anny Osabutey “we want to show President Mills that we love him.”
Party bigwigs including Nii Lantey Vanderpuye are also present to welcome the president.
Sources say the vice president John Mahama will also arrive at the airport before the arrival of the president.
