The Managing Director for OmniBank, Philip Oti-Mensah has charged entrepreneurs to aspire to go beyond the shores of Ghana.
According to him, it is time Ghanaian companies are seen to be making impact especially in the African sub-region.
"Dont be local champoins; go beyond borders and conquer territories" he stressed.
Mr. Oti-Mensah made the call at the Eighth Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards held over the weekend.
He indcated that, their decision to be headline sponsors of the event is because Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards is in line with their vision to become then number one bank for entrepreneurs in Africa.
The OmniBank MD said small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the Ghanaian economy – they represent about 85% of businesses, largely within the private sector, and contribute about 70% of Ghana's gross domestic product (GDP) hence must be supported to succeed.
Given this backdrop, Mr. Oti-Mensah underscored the need for more investment in the setor to accelerate Ghana's development.
In all, 33 personalities and corporate entities were rewarded for their immense contributions to the national economy.
The awards were grouped under four categories namely, the Corporate Chief Executive, Public Sector, Entrepreneur and Honorary awards.
They were presented with plaques and citations at a colourful ceremony in Accra.
