The skipper of Ghana's Black Queens, Adjoa Bayor is set to relinquish her leadership role in the team, citing indifference and indiscipline among some of the players. The gifted midfielder who led the Queens to their worst Women's World Cup appearance ever in China told GNA Sports in Shanghai, China, that she was ready to give up that position to have her peace. "I'm only waiting for the team to regroup so I can meet the coach and players to announce my decision." The team, which conceded 15 goals and scored only three before exiting the group stage that had Australia, Canada and Norway in the group was bedevilled with disciplinary problems that have discouraged the skipper from continuing to be their leader. "I cannot lead a divided team with a bunch of disrespectful young players." "I have had enough and I do not intend to change my mind. "It is time for a new person to lead us." She added. Bayor scored one of the three goals to keep up with her record of scoring a goal each at all the three World Cup appearances so far made by the Queens. The player said the technical team's inability to put things right with regards to the disciplinary problems confronting the players is one of the many factors discouraging her from leading the squad. There is a huge friction between most of the senior players and some junior players who consistently exhibit gross disrespect without being reprimanded by the Isaac Paha-led technical team. Bayor who succeeded Alberta Sackey after the veteran retired from international football in 2004 said her commitment to the team's cause would not be affected by her current decision. "I will give out my best to ensure we qualify for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games even after giving up the captainship."Source: GNA
