Hubtel, one of Ghana's leading technology brands, celebrates 13 years of operating in the country.
Launched in 2005 as Ghana’s first non-telco SMS gateway, the SMSGH (now Hubtel) has moved on to establish a mark on Ghana’s first direct bulk SMS connection to mobile network.
Hubtel is the first indigenous tech start-up to receive investor valuation in excess of USD 25million as well as being the first indigenous tech start-up to be listed in Forbes magazine.
Being the first to launch Ghana’s first online and mobile web SMS service in 2007, Hubtel also created the platform to provide a web-based content management system for its clients across the country.
Following a successful rebranding in 2007 with a promise to help businesses rethink customer service, Hubtel introduced a fully integrated POS app to enable businesses to accept and track all forms of payments (mobile money, bank cards and cash) into one wallet.
It is the first to introduce an open loyalty scheme (HUBTEL.ME) to reward consumers for paying everyday services.
Other services provided by Hubtel include SMS banking and transactional alert system for banks, deploying POS devices on a single platform, online payment processing platform to make it possible for consumer pay utility bills, buy airtime and send money from mobile phones/PCs among others.
