The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has congratulated Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko for winning the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Bantamweight title.
A statement from the secretariat of the Association described Agbeko's success as a mark of a committed and dedicated boxer who stuck to his dreams of becoming a world champion despite the difficulties.
"Even though he was avoided by many opponents, a situation which could have left any boxer rusty, Agbeko never exhibited any trait of a rusty boxer but rather crowned it with a well deserved world title."
The statement therefore called on other boxers who are also gunning for world titles to emulate the example of Agbeko to achieve fame and success.
Agbeko beat Luis "EL Demoledor" Perez of Nicaragua in Sacramento, USA on Saturday night through a technical knock-out.
