The National Democratic Congress’ Member of Parliament for Adentan constituency, Kojo Adu-Asare says the late President Mills’ decision not to quit from his position stemmed from his own volition. The Adentan MP insisted that no one pushed the late President Mills to his untimely death as the late President had all along insisted all was well with him.Adu-Asare’s remarks come after revelations made by Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (Retired,)that he prevailed upon the late President not to step down from his position as President of the country. The National Security Advisor, said the late President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills had wanted to relinquish power prematurely because of the constant vilification directed at his person, but he (Nunoo-Mensah) prevailed on him to shelve the idea. The former senior military officer also disclosed that former First Lady, Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills, had desired that her husband stepped down because of his ill-health and to also have his peace of mind. But speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Monday morning, Adu-Asare insisted the blame being put on the handlers of the late President are misplaced, as they (handlers) had in all times executed their duties judiciously. The MP for Adentan stated that “the President believed in his Christian principles that when you are weak and you are receiving treatment, you must have a positive attitude, you must display your fate.”
