The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has postponed indefinitely, its impending parliamentary primaries in 61 constituencies.
The NEC initially set august 5, 2012, as date for the primaries in the 45 newly created constituencies in addition to 16 others that were put on hold.
However the death of president J.E.A Mills who was also leader of the NDC and the subsequent funeral arrangements have necessitated the postponement of the primaries.
“NEC also, directs that regional and constituency executives suspend all Party activities until further notice”, a statement signed by Deputy General Secretary Kofi Lawson noted.
The statement said new dates for the primaries will be announced in due course.
