The Deputy Majority Leader, Rashid Pelpuo has backed calls for President John Dramani Mahama to move into the Flagstaff House.
The late President Mills had cited security concerns for his inability to move into the edifice built by the Kufuor administration to serve as the official residence and office for serving Presidents.
But the former Minister for Sports insists President Mahama must fix whatever security challenges there might be and move into the Flagstaff House, formerly named Jubilee House.
According to Rashid Pelpuo, the Osu Christianborg Castle can no longer serve as the seat of government with the burial of the late President nearby and also because it has outlived its purpose.
Speaking on Joy FM and Multi TV’s news analysis programme, Newsfile, the Deputy Majority leader maintained the Castle has become a ‘moribund piece of architecture which should no longer reflect the presidency’.
Meanwhile, Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Kwaku Baako Jnr says moving into the Flagstaff House will give President Mahama a distinctive outlook necessary in the wake of President Mill’s demise.
