The Central Region Chairperson of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Madam Araba Bentsil Enchil has urged members and supporters of the party to come together and work hard to enable the party come to power in the 2008 general elections.
She said achievement and victory are not won on a sliver platter and "It is only through hard work, togetherness and proper organizational work that the party can win political power".
Madam Bentsil Enchil said this during the inauguration of a 13-member executive of the Tertiary Students Chapter (TESSCHART) of the Convention Peoples Party, University of Education, Winneba (UEW) branch at Winneba on Thursday.
She said that the CPP is the only party that can bring hope to Ghanaians and urged the electorate to vote the party back to power because it has men of proven ability to lead the nation.
She urged the executives to intensify their campaigns both at the campus and their various constituencies to win more support for the party.
Mr. Isaac Baah Nii, President of TERSCHART, said, after 50 years of Ghana's independence, the nation is still facing "manacles of neo-colonialism, imperialism and the chains of bad socio-economic situations, ignorance and abject poverty".
He said the Party which led the country to independence has the antidote to the diseases facing the nation currently and appealed to Ghanaians to return it to power for fast socio-economic development.
Dr. Kweku Osafo, a Presidential flag bearer aspirant of the party, said CPP would build the nation within a shortest possible period if given the mandate to rule the nation.
He said only CPP could consolidate Ghana’s independence by building a solid economic foundation that would help improve the living standards of the people.
Ghanaians should not make the mistake to vote the NPP nor NDC into power since they have nothing good to offer them, Dr. Osafo said.
Mr. Bright Akwetey, another Presidential Aspirant also said, "time has come for the country to be liberated from darkness", adding that it is only the CPP that can do this.
He said the CPP which laid the foundation for education in the country after independence would make education affordable to every child since it is key to development.
Mr. Akwetey said all the aspirants have common objectives to lead the party to power in the 2008 elections, adding that whoever was elected at the congress would be supported by the rest of the aspirants.
The Effutu Constituency chairman of the party, Mr. Yaw Affari who introduced his executives to members of Tesschart, assured them of their cooperation towards the building of the party in the area.
Other members of Tesschart executives were Mr. Pomary Denice, Secretary, Miss. Tracey Ashong, Women’s Organizer, Mr. Afful Badu Organizer, Mr. Alexander Erzuah co-ordinator for the North Campus and Stella Tei-Ahortu, South Campus Co-ordinator.
