A new political party is to be formed by disgruntled youth members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The group which is led by Kwabena Adjei, a party member in the Manhyia Constituency of the Ashanti Region call their new party the Reformed Patriotic Party (RPP).
Mr. Adjei who once contested the party’s regional organiser position in the Ashanti region says he and several people within the party decided to break away because they are unhappy with the manner in which the party executives have conducted the affairs of the party.
Speaking to Joy News, Mr. Adjei said, youth from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who are also unhappy with their party’s leadership have joined forces with them to form the RPP.
Meanwhile, Joy News can confirm that this new party is registered with the Electoral Commission (EC) and has been issued a provisional certificate after fulfilling the basic requirements for registering a political party.
The group has paid ¢5 million and submitted three copies of its application forms to the EC.
The NPP however, has dismissed the group and written off the leader, Kwabena Adjei, claiming he has not held any position in the NPP before and therefore he is not known.
According to Nana Ohene Ntow, General Secretary of the NPP, the new group is no threat to the NPP.
