The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party is mocking the ruling National Democratic Congress for preaching an ideology of social democracy and yet practicing elitism.
Nana Akufo-Addo told students of the Institute of Professional Studies during one of his restore hope tours in Accra that a party claiming to be social democrats should not be seen to be against policies that will inure to the benefit of the poor.
And yet according to the NPP flagbearer, the NDC has consistently shown that it is against pro-poor policies.
“They opposed the NHIS and now they are opposing the free SHS as well,” Nana Addo told the enthusiastic IPS students.
He said social justice requires everybody to have access to secondary education, a pledge his party will not renege on when it is voted into power.
He charged Ghanaians not to listen to the pessimists who he said are tapping into the elitist system of governance whilst still professing to be social democrats.
Nana Addo said Ghanaians must remain solidly behind the NPP who has a track record of delivering on their promises.
