The chiefs and people of Ejisu-Juaben on Friday held a durbar to honour Mr Akwasi Osei Agyei, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and NEPAD and Member of Parliament for the area.
The durbar, which was organized by the Ejisu-Juaben District Assembly and the chiefs in the area, was in recognition of the honour brought to the district as a result of Mr Osei Agyei's appointment as a minister and his support for the development of the district.
Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, the District Chief Executive, described Mr Osei-Agyei as a committed, dedicated and respected person who had the district at heart in terms of development and human capacity building.
He said it was through these attributes that the President appointed him as a Deputy Minister and subsequently a Minister.
Mr Afrifa said through the efforts of Mr Osei-Agyei, many needy students were enjoying scholarships to further their education and most communities had got social amenities.
He advised the youth in the area to take inspiration from the achievements of the Minister and strive to work hard to achieve greater height in life.
Mr Afrifa appealed to the chiefs and people to live in peace and harmony in order to promote speedy development of the area.
Nana Otuo Siribour, Paramount Chief of Juaben, urged the minister to be more committed to his duties as a minister and bring more honour to the people in the district.
Mr Osei-Agyei thanked the people for recognizing his efforts and honouring him.
He thanked President John Agyekum Kufuor for giving him the opportunity to serve in his government and promised to work hard.
The chiefs and people presented a citation, a sheep, kente cloth and traditional sandals to the minister.
