The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the party has begun campaign in the proposed 45 constituencies ahead of the December general election.Johnson Asiedu-Nketia said the NDC is unfazed by the conduct of what he called “backward thinking” Majority in Parliament whom he claimed has succumbed to the whims and caprices of the NPP rather than serving the interest of Ghanaians.The CI 78 initiative by the Electoral Commission (EC) to give legal backing to the creation of the additional 45 constituencies is in a limbo as the Minority has opposed it.Insisting that the timing is inappropriate, the Minority maintained that they won’t be part of an illegality which they claim has the tendency to create chaos in the country.But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Asiedu Nketia said the ruling party is campaigning vehemently to win all the seats in the new constituencies.According to him, a visionary party like the NDC will not like to be taken by surprise hence its decision to organize primaries in all the proposed constituencies in anticipation for the CI to be passed into law.General Mosquito as he is popularly called indicated that the conduct of the NPP is borne out of mischief and its desire to keep the many Ghanaians in perpetual poverty.He said the law is made for man and not man for law therefore the Minority must use their “common sense” to judge the issue.The NDC scribe added that the NPP must get use to the fact that the CI78 would be passed and that no one will wait for them to organize themselves when the need arises.He said even if the CI is passed into law one–week to the general elections, the NDC will be well represented.General Mosquito urged the NPP to continue with their arguments and organize more press conferences since he says they [NDC] are benefiting from it.In a rebuttal, Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere, Daniel Kwaku Botwe reiterated that the NPP is not against the creation of the constituencies but is only concerned about the timing.He noted even if the constituencies are created the NPP will win about 25 of the seat.Dan Botwe urged the NDC to stop throwing dust into the eyes of Ghanaians and ensure that due process is followed before the CI is passed.
