Madam Abena Kwalla, the Western Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Women's Organizer, on Monday announced her resignation from the position to support a presidential aspirant of the party. Madam Kwalla told a news conference at Takoradi her decision to resign was in conformity with the party's regulations and code of conduct. She said her relinquishing the position was to enable her to concentrate on her campaign for Papa Owusu Ankomah, Member of Parliament for Sekondi and a presidential aspirant of the NPP. Madam Kwalla, who had occupied the position since 1992, said her resignation did not affect her membership and service to the NPP. Nana Owusu-Ankomah, Western Regional Chairman of the NPP, told the GNA that he had received Madam Kwalla's resignation letter and the regional executive would meet to deliberate on it. He said it was Madam Kwalla's democratic right to take any decision concerning her membership of any association or political party. Source: GNA
