Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, Presidential Candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has appealed to voters to make the right decision on December 7, to turn around the economic fortunes of the nation.
He said the upcoming general polls were about the choice of competent and incorruptible leadership that could make things happen and should not be based on sloganeering, big rallies and empty promises but people who are ready to work to create jobs to redeem the people from their socio-economic problems.
He called on the electorate to critically examine those who had put themselves up for election to decide who was better qualified and avoid blind party loyalty.
Dr Nduom said this at a press conference in Kumasi as part of his three-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.
He had earlier visited Obuasi, Offinso, Kwabre West, Suame light industrial area and the Kumasi Central Market to interact with voters.
Dr Nduom would also be meeting with the PPP’s constituency and polling station executives.
He said the presidential election was a three-way fight between himself, President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party.
He said he comes in with solid and better credentials, giving his track record in both public service and the private sector and cautioned the electorates to be wary of tribal politics because that would not be helpful for the unity of the nation.
He said, when given the mandate, he would use the purchasing power of government to stop the importation of foreign goods and help sustain the local industries.
