The Presiding Member (PM) of the Adansi South District Assembly in Ashanti has called for the establishment of an Audit Implementation Committee to monitor and ensure the judicious use of all revenue generated by the Assembly.
Mr Jonas Maurice Woode, who was opening the assembly's general meeting at New Edubiase, suggested that the committee should be headed by the Presiding Member.
According to him, the assembly's revenue generation efforts were not encouraging and that there was the need for the little mobilized to be disbursed judiciously and that only GH¢1,930 representing 31.2 percent had been released as at the end of June this year.
Mr Woode said on other property rates, GH¢137.7 out of estimated GH¢1,000 representing 13.8 percent had been collected during the same period.
The PM said the revenue pattern could not be justified as Akrofuom constituency alone with a voter population of over 15,000 could have generated about GH¢1500.
He said there was the need for the assembly members to assist the revenue collectors to enable them to step up revenue mobilization for the assembly.
He said he was not satisfied with the number of meetings held so far by the assembly.
"The number of times the assembly has met is not the best. This can be attributed to the fact that the sub committee members were not attending meetings as expected of them", he said.
