The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fixed November 28 to December 8, as the new date for selecting ten delegates each from the 230 constituencies nationwide to attend the December 22, Special National Delegates Congress.
Nana Ohene Ntow, NPP General Secretary, told newsmen in Accra after receiving the nomination documents of the Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama and Papa Owusu-Ankomah to formally register to contest for the flag bearer slot of the party.
He urged all constituency executives to comply with the new directives and organize the conference to select the delegates in a transparent manner.
According to the NPP Constitution, the National Congress shall comprise ten delegates from each Constituency, one representative of the founding members from each region and one representative of the patrons shall elect the party's presidential candidate from each Region.
Other delegates include one representative of each overseas branch of the party that is entitled to send a representative to the National Delegates Conference.
Nana Ohene Ntow assured the aspirants and delegates that the National Executive Officers, regional and constituency officials would manage the process efficiently to ensure free, fair and transparent selection of delegates.
He urged all to follow the NPP Constitutional provision of selection of delegates and other norms adopted over the years rigorously.
