The Chiefs and people of Nsawam in the Akuapem South District have commended Mr. Magnus Opare Asamoah, Deputy Minister of Road Transport for his support to some brilliant but needy students in the District.
He was also lauded for his efforts that led to most of the major roads in the District to be awarded on contracts and were being rehabilitated.
Nana Aku Oforiwa Queen mother of Kwahu Association of Nsawam and Mr. Bismarck Kwaku Poku Assembly member for Nsawam Central both made the commendation at a forum attended by the Assembly members to discuss issues affecting the people at Nsawam at the weekend.
Mr. Asamoah who is also a Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Aburi constituency supported six brilliant but needy junior secondary school leavers from his MP's common fund during the 2007/07 academic year.
Mr. Opoku said these children would have dropped out of school due to financial constraints but found their ways into senior high schools and are now pursuing various programmes.
Queenmother Oforiwa commended the efforts and commitment of both the government and the Member of Parliament to develop the road networks in the District.
She said Gyankama-Konkoduro, Aburi-Adamrobe and Aburi-Nsawam roads which were undergoing re-construction will facilitate transportation of goods and people in the area.
Madam Oforiwa, also Queenmother of Nsawam traders Association said the deplorable nature of roads in the District have made carting of foodstuffs from the hinterland difficult since most vehicles refused to ply these roads and the few that did so charged exorbitant fares.
