A solitary goal was all Medeama needed to finish leaders after the first round in the Glo Premier League on Sunday. The Mauves beat Tema Youth 1-0 at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park to open a three-point lead at the summit ahead of the second round. Bismarck Asiedu gave Medeama the home win after scoring in the 38th minute to hand coach Bashir Hayford a good base to plan for the future. Tema Youth, though above the drop zone are level on points with the 14th-placed team in the relegation bracket.
