The Paramount Chief of the Nandom Traditional Area, Naa Dr. Puoure Puobe VII, the Chiefs and people of Nandom in the Nandom District of the Upper West Region, have congratulated Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor on his elevation to the high office of Leader of the House and Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament.
A statement issued in Nandom and signed by the Paramount Chief of Nandom, aa Dr. Puoure Puobe, also thanked “President John Mahama, the Leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Majority Caucus in Parliament, and indeed, the entire membership of the Sixth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, for the confidence they have reposed in Dr Kunbuor in his selection and acceptance as Leader of the august House and Majority Leader”.
“We the constituents of the Nandom Constituency of which Dr Kunbuor is the elected NDC MP, are particularly touched by the fact that despite it (Nandom) being one of the newly created constituencies, it has produced the Leader of the House, a rare case under our Parliamentary practice”.
“We have no doubt whatsoever that given the enviable track record of Dr Kunbuor as a former Minister of Health, Minister of the Interior, the immediate past Minister of Justice and Attorney General and indeed, a Legislator for eight years (2000-2008), he would deliver most appropriately as Leader of the House and Majority Leader”.
The statement further congratulated President John Mahama on his election and successful assumption of office as the fourth President of the Fourth Republic.
“We the people of Nandom Constituency and District have an unalloyed confidence in President Mahama and Dr Kunbuor, the reason why we voted massively for the pair in the 2012 general elections. It is our belief that Nandom would experience unprecedented development in the next four years under their leadership”.
