Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, coordinator of the John Mahama 2012 Campaign, has appealed to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to exercise patience while President Mahama chooses ministers to head the various departments.
According to Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the President will fulfill his campaign, adding that, "it is too early to get worried".
Speaking to journalists in Accra over the weekend after a closed door NDC stakeholders meeting, Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah, explained that the President's appointments so far is a true reflection of his commitment to work with the best people.
Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah, a former Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, assured members that the President has the requisite experience and exposure to choose the best team that his government needs.
He therefore urged the members of the party to remain calm and trust in the wisdom of the President, who has worked in close consultation with the leadership of the party.
He noted that there were a lot of expectations from various interest groups and the balancing act in satisfying these competing demands is daunting.
"This is where we expect the party members to show patience, understanding and continuous loyalty and faith in the judgment of the President," he said.
He added that there should not be a problem over the changes being made since cabinet reshuffling between presidential terms remains a typical practice of good governance.
Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah said it was important for the members of the party to understand that the government has a four-year mandate and that appointments are solely the President's prerogative to ensure that qualified, competent and loyal people make up the team that will implement the Better Ghana Agenda.
He called on the rank and file of the NDC to offer their full support and cooperation to the President as he fulfills his mandate to Ghanaians.
