The Accra Gye Nyame Lions Club, has held a special ceremony in Accra to induct eight new members into the club.
The event was to climax weeks of orientation of the new members who were taken through the history, mission, and activities among others of Lions Clubs International.
Administering the Lions vows to the inductees, the immediate past District 403 A2 Secretary of the Lions Clubs, Lion Nana Esi Parry (MJF), urged the new initiates to be guided at all times by the true spirit of Lionism and strive hard to make the world a better place.
She said Lions Club has brought smiles to faces of the underprivileged through the support and hard work of members and admonished the new initiates to endeavor to contribute their quota towards this humanitarian task.
For his part a senior Lion, Lion Nana Baah Okoampah VII (MJF) reminded the gathering that Lionism is a way of life, and such as those who live it well turn to reap of the benefits. He added that there are many opportunities that the Lions Clubs International presents to its members worldwide and urged the newly inducted to position themselves to tap into these resources.
Lion Nana Okoampah VII(MJF) further stressed the need for the club to make its impact more felt within the community in which it operates. He charged them to ensure that their projects and activities are tailored to meet the needs of the community.
The President of the Accra Gye Nyame Lions Club, Lion Godwin Agianab expressed gratitude to the newly inducted members for the decision they have made to be part of the largest service club in the world with over 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members.
Lions club has over the years empowered volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding.
