Aflao police are investigating an armed robbery which took place Tuesday in Beat 9, Aflao.
A three-member gang at about 1am allegedly broke into St. Peter’s phone shop and made away with a hoard of phones as well as an undisclosed amount of money.
According to the owner of the phone shop, who gave his name as Peter, the armed robbers broke in through the back door of the shop and held two shop attendants who were sleeping in the shop at gunpoint.
He says the robbers smashed the display cases and grabbed some mobile phones, making away with Monday’s sales.

The robbers, in making their escape, exchanged fire with police responding to the scene but nonetheless managed to evade capture.
This is not the first time the shop has been targeted.
Peter disclosed that about four months ago, the same phone shop, along with a restaurant situated on the diamond road were robbed in broad daylight, making off with a huge amount of money.
He expressed concern over the spate of increased crime in the area, adding that the residents now live in fear, as Aflao steadily becomes a hotbed of crime.
