The Ghana hockey teams have both booked a place in the final at African Games after coming first and second in their groups.
The Black Sticks - the men - made the final despite losing 1-0 against Egypt in their last game. The result saw Ghana finish second with six points behind leaders Egypt who topped the group with seven points.
Since the two teams finished as the best teams in their group, team Ghana will have a chance to win gold as they come up against Egypt once again in the final while the North Africans will be seeking to do a double over the host nation in two days.
The final of the Men's hockey is set to take place on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium at 4pm.
Also, the Ghana women's hockey team, will battle it out against rivals, Nigeria for gold in the Women's hockey on Friday..
The Black Sticks women, booked their final on Monday, March 18, 2024 after beating Kenya and Nigeria respectively.
The women's team will face Nigeria who beat Kenya 1-0 to make the final.
After already defeating their West African rivals 1-0 to reach the final, team Ghana are looking forward to do a double over the Nigerians on Friday.
"We know it's going to be a very difficult match. Meeting the same team twice is not easy but we have the antidote to their style of play. I think the other time we didn't get it right but now we have corrected our mistakes. They find it very difficult adjusting with our passing game so I think we'll go that way and we are sure of taking the victory," Ghana women's hockey head coach, Osei Boakye Yiadom told JoySports.
The final of the women's hockey will take place on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium at 10am.
