Airtel Ghana has donated items worth GHC 5,000 to the 37 children of the Christ-Faith Orphanage at Frafraha in the Greater Accra region.
The donation was part of activities to mark the May Day celebration and the items donated included clothing, school bags, shoes, bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil and other essential household items to help run the home.
A statement from Airtel Ghana said apart from the donations, Airtel staff also adopted all 37 children at the orphanage to make regular contributions for their upkeep.
The statement quoted Director for Human Resource, Administration and CSR at Airtel, Ms. Fafali Dzobo as saying “the donation was to put smiles on the faces of these young people - We also wanted them to feel a part of a bigger, happy family”.
The Airtel team also interacted with the children and caretakers of the home and they also encouraged the children to take their studies seriously so they could become eminent people in future.
The supervisor at the orphanage, Mrs. Henrietta Agyeman was full of praise for Airtel, especially for the gifts and time spent with them.
She said “such donations motivate us to keep up with our good work and it is our prayer that other organizations will emulate the good example exhibited by Airtel.”
Airtel Ghana is noted for their outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly the ‘Touching Lives’ television programme, which granted the wishes of ordinary Ghanaians who have made impressive contributions towards the success of their families or communities.
Airtel has also been involved in remarkable CSR projects like the total refurbishment of the Krobo Odumase Presbyterian and the Himakrom Methodist schools in the Eastern and Western regions respectively.
