Director of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation at the Presidency, Dr. Tony Aidoo says Ghana will “be a war mongering nation” if Nana Akufo-Addo becomes president after the December 7 elections.
According to Dr. Aidoo, “Nana Akufo-Addo wanted us to mobilize Ghanaian troops to go to Cote d’Ivoire and forcefully remove (former President Laurent) Gbagbo” despite having signed up to UN and African Union charters which emphasise on recognition of territorial sovereignty of neighbours and to pacific settlement of disputes.
Speaking on Adom TV program Badwam on Thursday, Dr. Aidoo described Nana Akufo-Addo as a “very very dangerous person” and if he becomes president, “he will plunge this country into war when we could have settled disputes through jaw-jaw instead of war-war.”
Dr. Tony Aidoo was assessing last night’s Institute of Economic Affairs'-organised Presidential debate between candidates of political parties with representatives in Parliament, held at the Banquet hall, State House in Accra.
The senior government official accused Nana Akufo-Addo of‘dancing Azonto in his chair’ without necessarily dealing with the issues being discussed, and wondered if it was his character or he had composure problems.
However, Dr. Aidoo was impressed about the performance of his candidate, President John Dramani Mahama, whom he said paid very close attention to the questions asked and also answered them accordingly. The CPP and the PNC candidates were also ‘fantastic’, he said.
“But Nana Akufo-Addo goofed badly, especially with regards to Ghana’s foreign policy and law, the areas that he (Nana Akufo-Addo) says are his specialty,” Tony Aidoo stated.
