Central Regional Communication Director of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Bernard Allotey Jacobs has added his voice to calls on striking doctors to call off their strike action, asking them to be reasonable and desist from acting on sentiments.
He urged the doctors to remember their godly virtues and the oath of secrecy they swore before taking up their appointments and return to work.
The doctors are on strike to protest what they claim is a stalled negotiation and attempts to lull them onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS). They have rejected calls to return to the wards, maintaining they will only do so when their demands are met.
But Mr Allotey Jacobs says it would be better for the doctors to attend to patients and allow health administrators to continue with negotiations with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
He was speaking on Adom FM’s morning show - Dwaso Nsem.
Mr Jacobs also asked the doctors to exercise restraint and show commitment to resolving the issue.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, who was also on the programme called for cool heads to prevail in resolving the issues since its repercussions affect all Ghanaians irrespective of their political affiliation.
