Armed robbers have attacked three vehicles at Abekwase on the Samreboi-Asankragua highway in the Western Region.
The robbers attacked two 207 buses and a taxi heading towards Kumasi in the dawn of Tuesday September 11, 2012.
The Samraboi District Police Station Officer, Chief Inspector Baffour Sasu confirmed the incident to Adom News.
He said the police have not effected any arrests but two persons assaulted by the robbers have been sent to Samatex Hospital for treatment.
Chief Inspector Sasu said the robbers managed to take away over twenty thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc 20,000; 200 million old Cedis) and other items from the passengers.
He called on the police administration and the Amenfi West District Assembly to post more officers to the district and also provide logistics such as vehicles to enable them discharge their duties more effectively.
Chief Inspector Sasu called on residents and passengers to remain calm as the security agencies step up their operations to deal with any future occurence.
