Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have told eight players they are surplus to requirements at the club after the second transfer window opened on Monday.
The players include goalkeepers Eric Nii Baah and Habib Mohammed; defenders Peter Amoah and Mutalabi Mohammed; midfielder Elias Ankrah and strikers Kwadwo Poku, Francis Akwaffo and Kabiru Imoro.
“We are determined to make sure that we have a compact team that would and can be effectively handled by the coach for the expected results,” Administrative Manager Ben Nti
“This is the first batch of the players we intend to transfer to other clubs for us to be able to achieve our 25 players target.
“We took this early decision to enable the affected players to scout for clubs by taking advantage of the transfer window that was opened on Monday.”
Kotoko are seeking to improve under new man Bogdan Korak who joined the club early this month.
The club are currently 12th on the league table and two points above the relegation mark.
