The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has donated an undisclosed amount to Bechem United to support their campaign in the ongoing Premier League.
Bechem United were recently hosted by the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace as the only premiership side from the Ahafo area of the Brong Ahafo Region, which is under Ashanti stool lands.
A statement signed by the chairman and president of the club, Kingsley Owusu Achiaw, said a committee had been set up to implement a blueprint based on the advice they took from the Ashantehene.
“His Royal Majesty, the Ashantehene, the Chief Patron of Bechem United, extended a huge arm of support to our club (Bechem United) of which we are grateful.
“He gave us a significant amount of money, which makes it possible for us to run the club. The Bechemhene and the people of Ahafo salute the powerful and generous support of the Ashantehene to Bechem United’s effort at becoming a top club in Ghana,” the statement said.
Bechem United also acknowledged a GH¢20,000 donation from the Tano South District Assembly and other donations received during the launch of the football season at a ceremony at Bechem a fortnight ago.
It was in fulfilment of a pledge by the District Chief Executive, Bukari Zakari Anaba, to aid the club in their Premier League campaign.
