The chief of Akyem Asene near Oda in the Eastern Region, Nana Karikari Apau Frempong III, has stressed the need for traditional rulers to lead exemplary lives and spearhead all development projects undertaken in the area to raise the living standards of the people.
Such initiative, he said, would go a long way to sustain the trust and confidence of their subjects.
Nana Apau Frempong made the call at the installation of two subchiefs at Asene, Nana Dwapaning Debrah Asabare II, Tufuhene and Nana Amankwah Ofosu Peprah, the Kyidomhere.
Nana Debrah Asabare known in private life as Mr Kwadwo Debrah is a cocoa purchasing clerk at Asene while Nana Ofosu Peprah known in private life as Okyeame Kwasi Mensah is a prominent farmer.
The Asenehene advised the two sub-chiefs to comport themselves at all times to uphold the qualities that convinced the kingmakers to nominate and install them in order to promote peace in the town.
He admonished the people of Asene to give the two sub-chiefs their maximum co-operation and support to ensure the success of their reign.
Nana Apau Frempong said he had decided to fill all vacant stools in the town for the chiefs to contribute their quota towards the development of the town.
He promised to establish a senior high school at Asene to promote education in the area.
The Gyaasehene of Asene, Nana Amoah Daadom, advised the two sub-chiefs to strive to serve the people but not to lord it over them.
Nana Peprah thanked the Asenehene and the kingmakers for the trust and confidence reposed in them and promised to live up to expectation.
