AshGold boss Bashir Hayford has a long history of edgy banter with Ghana's press. And he's delivered yet another dig.
A claim that's been paraded ad nauseam this season is that the title-winning coach presides over teams that do well in the first round but taper off in the second. Hayford has taken exception to that claim.
"This (second round complex) is a question i don't want to answer. Because it is not backed by any imperial evidence, it is not backed by any statistical evidence. It is not backed by any scientific evidence.
"Bring me the statistics starting from Afienya to Medeama SC, bring me the statistics, showing that I fumble at the second round of every season.," he told Citi FM.
Also an ex-Kotoko boss, the outspoken gaffer has delivered AshGold a Premiership crown after 19 years of waiting. "Statistics from my archives should be the talking point, use that to prove I have second round complex."
And he finished with a flourish, telling pressmen to fact-check before trotting out misleading stats about him. “Somebody sat somewhere and conjured something (I fail at second round of every season) and some people believe it. But i don't believe it."
