The NDC is accusing the NPP of pushing its supporters to vote against their parliamentary candidates in the impending December election.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia claimed that the NPP had resorted to this strategy after realizing that their Presidential candidate Nana Akufo Addo had already lost the election.
Addressing various rallies at Techiman, Wenchi, Nsawkaw and Kintampo as part of President John Mahama tour of the Bono Ahafo Region, Nketia cautioned the party’s rank and file not to be swayed by the opposition's tactic.
He described the development as a ploy by the NPP to cripple President Mahama’s policies and vision, declaring that an NPP majority in parliament would never approve any of the president's progressive initiatives.
Nketia, endearingly known as "General Mosquito" by party faithful, also appealed to the people to think of the NPP’s proposal of free senior high school as the latest in a series of unfulfilled promises.
According to him, the NDC had uncovered an NPP scheme to intensify what he called a “campaign of lies and insults,” with just a few weeks left until the elections.
He therefore urged supporters to remain calm, assuring them that the NPP will not be able rig this year’s election as he insists they did in the past.
He said the new biometric voting system being introduced for this year’s elections will make the elections free and fair.
